Healing on the Way to Belfast: A Story of Faith and Divine Encounter

In March 2022, a memorable journey of healing and faith in Christ unfolded at 30,000 feet, reminding us how unexpected moments can become powerful encounters. The story begins with Sodi, a devoted member of the Fire Place church, who recently travelled to Belfast. Little did he know that he would have an unforgettable experience seated next to Rohit, a young student with Indian roots from Dubai currently studying in Belfast.

A Divine Appointment

From the start, Sodi and Rohit shared a rapport, quickly diving into discussions about career ambitions, personal growth, and life’s journeys. Rohit, enthusiastic yet humble, was receptive to Sodi’s advice. Their conversation unfolded seamlessly, covering topics that extended beyond the typical small talk shared between strangers on flights.

Towards the end of the journey, Rohit confided that he had been struggling with sciatica, a painful condition affecting the lower back and legs. Despite being a young student, he had endured the persistent pain, undergone treatment but still experienced discomfort. Knowing this, Sodi immediately offered his help and companionship in the baggage room, despite not having any luggage of his own to collect.

Extending a Helping Hand

After collecting all of Rohit’s bags, Sodi felt a strong urge to do more than just help with the luggage. He offered to pray for Rohit’s healing, hopeful that through faith, this simple act could bring some relief. Rohit, open to the idea, welcomed Sodi’s gesture.

Standing together in a busy airport baggage room, Sodi began to pray. He prayed for relief, comfort, and healing, earnestly and repeatedly trusting God to intervene on Rohit’s behalf. The first two prayers seemed to go unanswered, as Rohit felt no immediate change in his pain. Yet, with patience and determination, Sodi persisted, praying two more times.

Witnessing a Miracle

With each prayer, Rohit began to feel a shift. After the third and fourth rounds of prayer, something remarkable happened. Rohit’s pain, which had accompanied him constantly, began to subside significantly, leaving him almost entirely pain-free. His surprise was evident—he looked at Sodi with a mixture of amazement and gratitude.

In those final moments together, they parted ways with a deepened sense of faith, both in God and in the kindness of a stranger. Rohit’s healing served as a testament to the power of prayer, while Sodi walked away filled with gratitude for being part of such a unique encounter.

Finding Faith in Everyday Moments

What makes this story so impactful isn’t just the physical healing Rohit experienced but also the reminder of how faith in Jesus Christ can transform everyday moments. We often find ourselves busy, focused on our own agendas, or disconnected from those around us. But Sodi’s willingness to listen, help, and act with faith turned a routine flight into a life-altering encounter.

In life’s unexpected intersections, when we slow down and engage with others genuinely, we create space for divine appointments—moments that transcend the ordinary and reflect a greater purpose. Whether on a plane, in a baggage room, or on our daily commute, each interaction holds the potential to make a lasting impact.

A Reminder of Faith in Action

Rohit’s healing reminds us of the courage it takes to reach out, even in an unconventional setting. In the rush and noise of travel, Sodi’s faith in Christ, compassion, and persistence created a moment for God’s work to shine through, sparking hope and gratitude in both Rohit and those who hear this story.

So next time you find yourself beside a stranger, consider it an opportunity. Every moment is a chance to spread kindness, offer support, or even share in an act of faith. After all, as Sodi and Rohit’s story beautifully illustrates, sometimes the most unexpected encounters can bring healing, hope, and a reminder of the divine in our lives.

Praise God for such divine appointment opportunities!
